Hello you!

I know what you're thinking. It's been over a year since I posted anything here, so why in the world would I decide to post something on this corpse of a blog.

Well, yesterday JC (bonezjc) twittered this at me:

..so I felt the need to come here and check out my old yearbook yourself pictures.

The other reason for writing this is, I'm (apparently) taking part in NaNoWriMo and I have to write 1667 words a day in my story so that at the end of November, I'll have 50.000 words.
I started out great with over 1700 words the first day, but on day six, with current total of 6.518 words, I'm a few thousand behind.
The story I'm writing is in Icelandic, because.. it's my native tongue and I thought I'd have less difficulties writing something in Icelandic. We'll see how it goes.
I'm not using the Dinzla username on there though, because I put Iceland as my home region.. and that logic somehow makes sense in my mind.
Just in case you're interested, the username I'm using is: the word for a single red blood cell.

So anyways, ever since I started writing regularly every day, I feel it's become easier to spontaneously write something, like say.. a BLOG?!
I don't know how long this writing thing of mine will last, but let's just enjoy it while it lasts, yes? ok.

I wanted to write more about how I've been doing and crap like that, but as you've read, I'm a few THOUSAND words behind on my story and should really get on that shiz.

..and with those words I'll once again leave for a while, hopefully not as long a while as last time.

OMG! HI!!
..so I told you in my last post, to sit tight if you were interested in how busy I've been.
Well, it's probably time to spill SOME of the beans.

In January I moved out!!! I've been living on my own since then! :O

In February Mr. AericWinter came to Iceland for 2 whole weeks!! :O

In March I turned old.. OH, and... I QUIT MY JOB!!!! :O

In April.. uhm.. I made videos again, worked like a dog and did a lot of paperwork and running around, making calls to embassies, old schools etc.

Why?

Because in June.. I'M MOVING OUT OF THE COUNTRY!!!! :O

Sure the economy is bad and everyone has to take a paycut and work more, for less money and whatnots.
Some might be forced to take on bigger paycuts than they should, and there is not much those "some's" can do about it....

Anywho, by June 1st. I'LL BE UNEMPLOYED!!! :O

So people have asked me to blog more.
Actually people have asked me to do more of everything, but I IZ SUPER BUSY! like you have no idea. You might think you do, but no, there is always more. It will all be clear in hopefully less than 80 days, so if you're interested, sit tight! :D

..so this blog post was just meant to say that, and Merry Christmas, Happy new year & Happy birthday to me!
(Thank god I blogged before Easter, because adding Easter to that mix would have just been sad.)

1. I found a red blood cell cast in a urine sample and took this picture of it.They are always a bad sign for the patient, and are usually hard to detect, but I found it and recognized it, so yay! (Yeah, I'm probably the only one who is impressed, but that's enough ^_^)

2. I thought utubedrama.com was dead, but no no, apparently not.
What is the bright side? It's funny.

3. The next installment in this blog is something I'd like to call "Faildisk art". When a disk fails, doodle the frustration away and call it art!

4. This one is different. There is no bad side to when people decide to spontaneously send you cute and thoughtful gifts. <3

Last night, I dreamt I made a mixtape for all you lovely people who still read this blog (and for myself too, of course).
And now, I just made one (!!!).

freaky, eh? (not really)

What's more is that, this Mixtape is kinda like a representation of what happens to me these days, when I go to bed at night, and right until I get up in the morning.
(I should maybe mention that I'm a very active snoozaholic and dependent on 3 or more alarm clocks in order to keep my day job..)

So like, OMG Hi and stuff!
I've been working at the hospital for 2 whole weeks now and I lurv it!
..well, the going to bed early (kinda) and waking up freezing and having to get up and leave the house sorta sucks, but it would suck a lot more if it weren't for my new baby!! ^__^This is an 8 year old Opel Astra that used to belong to my grandpa, but he just got himself a new car and then sold this one to me.
This is the very same car that totally destroyed my stick shift self confidence (yes, it's stick shift!! omg!!). I just could not drive this car back in 2001 and hated it with a passion.
Today, we've made up! It has stalled only ONCE since I got it and that was just me, trying to see IF it could stall it at all.
Now I just need to find a place that can make panther-print black/green fluffy interior, woop!
I wanted to take more pictures, but as you can maybe see, it was raining and has been raining, a lot, pretty much every day now for a long time, meh.

Yesterday, I went to the movies and saw Mamma Mia and I couldn't stop smiling!
ABBA = genius.

I've decided to make this September the month of "Just because".
..why? ...just because, and no, you don't have to know what that means.

I also signed up for an online college course at my brothers school last week.. so technically I'm a student again (...).

aaand I'm also kinda "organizing" a mini family reunion later this month.

aaaaaand I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting lots of crap I'm doing these days, but then again, this isn't the confessional, PM me if you want details.. or better don't, I suck at replying to emails. If you've ever sent me one, you'd know. -___-

I've also been working on cleaning my window.. like.. extreme cleaning, killing some mold fungusy-thing that has been partying it up microbe style..

This weekend I have to attend my own graduation.. the whole thing takes probably over 6 hours and I can't wait till it's over and done with.. gaah..

..and this morning, I was feeling kinda spacey, so I made a mixtape.. which turned out to be kinda.. retro mellow-ish...

I think I need to blog now..

First of all, I am fine. Thank you all for your concerns, your emails, comments and twitts.
I am fine.

There was an earthquake here yesterday measured at least 6.1 Richter. It originated in a small mountain/hill right next to the town of Selfoss 30 miles (50K) from Reykjavik.
We did feel it here, it was pretty strong and pretty scary.

They say 28 people were injured, but only minor injuries, cuts and bruises. There is a lot more of people in shock after the whole thing. Most of the people in Selfoss slept in tents last night.

Houses in Selfoss are a mess, they're all still standing, but some are cracked, and some need to be demolished.

There have been almost constant after shakes in Selfoss, mostly small ones, but some over 3 Richter.
There is also increased activity in some hot springs in the area, and apparently some hot clay pits spewing clay in the air.

Now, I'm not trying to be all superhero about this, this was a big thing.
However, this island I live on is located on the Mid-Atlantic ridge, meaning there is a lot of geological activity here.

I was home alone, and jumped in the doorway when I felt this wasn't just a minor quake. The house shook pretty hard, small things fell off shelves and the "chandelier" in the kitchen rocked back and forth.

I say my walls are thin because they aren't soundproof. They are about 20cm thick concrete and wire, built to withstand this kinda thing.
There are small cracks in the walls here at home, but saying that they grew bigger since yesterday could just be my imagination. I mean, it's possible, I just don't know.

I was also home alone during a big earthquake we had in 2000 (6.6 Richter, although this one felt much bigger) and then once during a 5 pointer I was in a storage facility for old airline tickets, which was kinda creepy.

My point being, today, is just good old Friday.
Yesterday, I was shaking hours after the quake, but today, I'm just enjoying my vacation.
Sure, there is a lot more of news on TV, and a possible big after shake expected, but if it comes, it comes.

I've felt some minor rumbling while writing this blog, but it's possible that it's only my imagination. It might also very well be real, but honestly, it doesn't matter, when the only constant you have isn't constant anymore everything becomes surreal.

I think this would be a good idea, or a fun one at least. ^,^

Today was kinda nice..
Woke up.. made some phone calls and found out that I didn't have to go to the lab today.. just work at home.. writing my essay and stuff..
So, I turned on both my pc and the mac.. originally just wanted to check my mail on the mac and listen to some music.. but then.. twitterific, my pop-up twitter notification program thingy launched (word power!! right here!!), and that made me log onto skype.. and then.. before i knew it.. i was just back to my old ways.. totally ignoring the poor pc next to me..

I uploaded a bunch of old pictures onto my new flickr account, and realized that I pretty much wasn't gonna study at all today.
So I figured, why not just have some fun instead of beating myself up about my concentration problems and feel bad.
Then I remembered Ben telling me to do a photo shoot 2 days ago, and thought it might be a fun little project.. or whatever.. (he also told me to do this blog.. the robot has power, what can I say..)

Hi there!
Last two weeks I managed to watch season 2 and 3 of lost online with my dear Kiwi to guide me and not letting me give up on it..
Sounds weird?
Well.. I've learned that I kinda need at least 1 Lost episode to get into the whole thing, and during those 40+ minutes, I'm just a big ball of annoying questions and lostness..
..and am all "OMG, I'm so lost I'm close to checking out, WTH?! where the fuck are we now? is this a flashback, or?! oh gwad!! I need to pause! I'm so lost!!"
..and seeing that I really wanna be watching the show, (because I like it, and it's awesome, and goose bumpy, and all that jazz..) ..I kinda need someone to watch it with me..
..someone who doesn't go apeshit on my face when I space out for the 7th time during one episode and someone who tells me "NO" when I feel the obsessive need to rewind every 5 minutes because I feel like I missed something...
I really just hate being so totally lost ...that's why I stopped watching the show.. back in the day..
My attention span failed me..
Thank god for Kiwi.. I still have most of my sanity, and am now finally up to speed on the whole Lost thing.. as much as one can be that is.. and it's well worth it..
so Yay!!

In other news:
I want a puppy, but I can't really get one in the next.. oh.. 3-5 years or so..
..I can still watch cutewithchris and dream about my cute little future puppy, which sometimes turns into a kitten.. or a kangaroo.. or a baby goat..

The MacBook has this lovely little feature.. where when you force quit a program that isn't responding, you can send an error report/problem report to Apple.. and yes, I know that you probably also can in Windows XP.. but it's just... easier to do on the Mac..
Now... the firefox isn't really up to par these days.. months, and sometimes Skype joins the "let's be screwed up and mess with your plans" party.

Hi.. My name is Ally and i I'm an audioholic..

I've been using music for the last.. 23 years at least...
..and am still currently using..
I've tried quitting a few times.. but I always seem to fall of the wagon..
I don't remember how it started.. but I do remember being really young.. and looking up at the living room wall... at the shelves... filled with delicious vinyl records..
I remember my dad.. showing me 2 records.. one with a black man on the cover, and the other with a white man on the cover..
..he said they were the same person..

before I knew it.. I was using every day.. mostly in the living room.. by myself..
some days it got so bad... I chose the records over going out to play with the kids in my neighborhood..
It was probably then when I realized my hobby had become my addiction.

Back then.. I didn't always know what I was using.. I just knew it was... something like.. track number 6 on the record that looked like a white wall..
I was using so much during that time that it was hard to keep track of what was a good buzz and what wasn't..
Today I know better.. I read labels.. It's just good sense.. knowing what you are using at all times..
although sometimes.. I do lose control.. and use nonstop.. for days even..
after binges like that.. my head feels numb..
I feel the desperate need to continue using.. but everything I have.. isn't good enough..
..the tracks that made me feel like I was dancing on a rainbow of skittles... don't work for me anymore.. so I try to put them aside while I go hunting for a new buzz..
..most of the times.. the new buzz is in no way as good as the previous one..
Right there, I recognize that this might be a problem..
When I'm in a low like that, I try to find bad stuff to use, to make the old "good stuff" look more appealing again by comparison...
.. I have a few CDs for exactly that.. music that is so terrible.. it physically hurts using it..
I try to fool myself into thinking.. it's interesting and fun... and sometimes it works.. and I can laugh at my own silliness...
Other times.. it's just embarrassing, time consuming and ...quite painful.

I don't think I'll get over this addiction easily.. and some days.. I'm not even sure I want to get over it..
I know.. I know.. this means I'm not ready to change.. I haven't hit rock bottom yet.. but that doesn't mean I'm not concerned about my health and sanity..
Right now, I just have to take it one day at a time.. slowly learning to accept that I can't change some things about my life.. hoping Elvis will bring me the courage to change what I can... and the wisdom to know the difference..

my bank called..
advising me to get additional life-savings 401(k) account crap...
They've called me before about the same thing..
I tried it out once...
and they called me 2 times a week, telling me about more special deals..
and then they took my money away..
It felt like they were robbing me blind..
I hope to be more then 50 years old...
that means I'm not even half way through life yet..
which means this 401k will just about cover my future phone bill for the bank...
plus..
I don't have a job right now...
where am I gonna get the extra money for my bank to take away?..
"But the interest rates! you'll make more money if you sign up now!" the condescending bank lady told me..

The only thing that has been bugging me about this school project, is that the user manual for the machine I will use, is all in Danish.. -____-
I'm supposed to be pretty much fluent in it.. I mean, for 8 years, the school system has forced me to learn Danish..
..and because we are forced to learn it.. most of us are reluctant to use it (or at least I am..).
It's been 5 years since I stopped learning Danish (OMFG I feel old o_O ) and I've been kinda... brushing up on it this weekend..

..and I've come to discover that my poor head is having major language categorizing issues..
When I read the Danish thing.. I make it sound like Swedish.. or even Norwegian..
and I can't help it.. I have to stop myself and force it to be Danish..
..and when I use the little German I know, it comes out like Danish..
My brother was smart enough to pick German in school.. and not French like his silly sister, so now I find German textbooks around the house, start reading it.. and it becomes Danish.. pfft..
What is even weirder.. is that when I'm trying to speak some French, I substitute words I don't remember right away with FRIKKEN DANISH words!!
I know.. I suck..

Today.. has been.. pretty pointless..
I basically was a full time driver today, driving family members here and there all over town...

However, the cricket in my MacBook is being exceptionally loud for some reason, and I hate it.
I tried many different settings and no matter what I did... there it was.. the cricket of doom..

The stubbornness is actually a good thing.. because I probably wouldn't have stayed in school for so long if I weren't so damn stubborn..

Alrighty..
I can hardly believe that I'm actually managing to blog here every day so far, 7-9-13. ^,^
uhm.. yeah, that's "our" version of "knock on wood" ..7-9-13.

Today is the second day in the 3 day gluttony combo we celebrate here. The timing of the 3 days varies each year, and is "ruled" by Ash Wednesday, which is set on Wednesday (duh) 7 weeks before easter.

First day was monday, bollu-dagur, which I wrote about on Feb 2nd.
Today, tuesday is Sprengi-dagur, which could be directly translated to "Explosion day" or "blowing up day".
On this day, we are supposed to.. eat salty lamb meat and pea soup till we explode, basically. Very heart and kidney friendly day as you can tell.
Then tomorrow is Ösku-dagur, or "ash day", where kids dress up and sing songs in stores for candy.
Now I kinda feel like I'm repeating myself, because I did talk about ash wednesday in the Halloween video I made last year... uhm.. so If you wanna hear me.. uhm.. say what I just wrote, then that video is still up and kicking..
(oh, and the hyphen in the days names is not supposed to be there.. I'm just special like that sometimes..)

In other news,
I've finished the ethics essay and turned it in... uhm.. or sent it via email.. (oh, my inner eco geek is loving the "no waste of paper" thing).
I'm catching up on my subscriber "thank yous", trying my best to be original every time..
I still have about 60 subscribers to thank.. so my evening plans are pretty much set.
[Edit: or maybe I'm just kinda lazy now and will continue tomorrow, yes, it's been a busy day.]

Yesterday I bought some CDs. I can seriously spend hours in CD/DVD/electronics stores.. My personal record is 4,5 hours in HMV in Vancouver BC.

I have an essay due on Feb. 5th in "Ethics in the healthcare system". It's kinda tricky and I really just wanna finish it.. or ...start it.. :S
I'll just have to do some word-vomiting in Word tomorrow hopefully..

I've been watching some guitar videos today.. and now.. I want to get an electric guitar..
I mentioned that I wanted to get an electric guitar in a vlog I did yonks ago.. but I got a camcorder instead..
well.. not really "instead" because the price of a camcorder and an electric guitar are quite... "different"..
Especially since I'm insanely picky and wanted a real Fender Strat, even though I have no idea how it even works..

I do love my blue acoustic guitar though.. and seeing that I'm not really making any money at the moment.. like.. at all.. "Birkir" will be my only child for a few more years.. (No, you're most likely not pronouncing it right.. I'm sorry.. but to me it sounds and looks blue)
